My Learning Coach was born from a pivotal realization: in the age of AI, learners do not need to become less human; they need to be coached to become more fully human. We created an AI co-pilot to address one of higher education’s deepest challenges: student disengagement. When students lose motivation, struggle silently, or fail to see the value of learning, the effects can ripple into lower persistence, retention, and graduation outcomes. In the age of AI, that disengagement can also lead students to offload the hard work of learning itself.
Yes, there is an irony in using AI to strengthen the very human qualities that learning is meant to develop: a growth mindset, resilience, and self-determination. But that is the purpose of My Learning Coach. We believe AI should not help learners skip the human part of learning. It should help them reflect, persist, ask better questions, and build the durable skills they need to use new technologies wisely and adapt to an ever-changing future of work.

A National Science Foundation-funded entrepreneur and educator with over 30 years of experience in media, teaching, and startups, Patrick is the Founder and CEO of Prenostik and a communications lecturer at UC Irvine. He is on a mission to coach students to develop a growth mindset through critical thinking, resilience forged by perseverance, and agency grounded in self-determination, durable human skills essential in the age of AI.
A 25+ year veteran in enterprise software development, Dave is a seasoned architect and hands-on engineer specializing in cloud-based and mobile applications. Dave leads design and architecture. He has extensive experience managing onshore and offshore teams. Dave has implemented solutions across the finance, healthcare, education, and real estate industries.
With over 25 years of experience in data analytics, Tim has held executive roles at Fortune 500 companies across aerospace, telecom, and media. He has built and led analytics teams from the ground up. Tim has also taught AI and data science applications at UCLA Anderson, Loyola Marymount, and Cal State LA, and regularly speaks on AI, analytics, and data storytelling.
